February 15th, the day after Valentine’s day. I woke up feeling bloated and groggy. My body just isn’t used to excessive snacks and sugars.
Today was a stark contrast to yesterday. I woke up alone, Chelle opted to sleep in late. I went to work for a couple hours, my meeting was cancelled and I was left with nothing on my plate. I headed to the gym by myself, my training partner was incommunicado.
I felt like a lone wolf!
When I was at the gym, I put in a 10 minute warmup on the treadmill. I jogged at 5mph, taking an occasional walk break at 3.5mph. For weights, it was leg day. I did the usual routine – squats, leg extensions, hamstrings curls and calf raises. Doing weights without a training partner goes fast. It also restricts how much you can lift, it is nice to have a spotter.
Since the weights were over quickly, I did 20 minutes on the stationary bike. The gym has taken to locking the spin class room. Some of the expensive spin bikes were getting damaged and the management is trying to limit their use. It was quite strange riding on a stationary bike that I couldn’t clip into. Also the geometry was unique, I felt like I was riding a time trial on a cruiser or hybrid.
I arrived back home in time to drive Chelle to work. More alone time!
It was a big struggle to avoid the plethora of bagels, bread and candy in the house. I snacked on some strawberries and did another 20 minutes of exercise. The bicycle and trainer set up in the living room were calling my name!
